TCS Concrete Screws (TORQ)
Product Overview
The TORQ TCS Concrete Screw is a thread-cutting hardened screw anchor for permanent fixing into concrete, solid brick, and masonry. It cuts its own thread into the base material during installation — no plug, sleeve, or expansion element required. Two head variants: TCS-HX (hex head with integrated washer, for oversized or slotted holes) and TCS-FH (countersunk head, for flush applications).
Key Features
No radial expansion forces — no risk of edge splitting or cracking in thin sections
Self-tapping hardened steel thread — cuts into pre-drilled concrete or masonry
Removable and reusable — can be backed out and re-driven in the same hole
Material: AISI C 1022 carbon/alloy steel, hardened. Coating: zinc plated or Ruspert (>500 hr salt spray). Grade A4 stainless available on request
Drive — TCS-HX: hex socket. TCS-FH: Torx
Sizes — TCS-HX: D6/8/10/12/16 mm. TCS-FH: D6/8/10/12 mm
Installation Data
D6: drill 5 mm, depth 55 mm, torque 10 N·m, embedment 45 mm D8: drill 6 mm, depth 60 mm, torque 20 N·m, embedment 55 mm D10: drill 8 mm, depth 70 mm, torque 50 N·m, embedment 60 mm D12: drill 10 mm, depth 80 mm, torque 80 N·m, embedment 65 mm D16: drill 14 mm, depth 80 mm, torque 120 N·m, embedment 70 mm
Note: The drill diameter is smaller than the screw diameter — this is intentional. The screw cuts its own thread. Using an oversized bit destroys holding capacity.
Recommended Resistance (single screw, C20/25 concrete)
Tension: D6 2.2 kN | D8 3.6 kN | D10 4.8 kN | D12 7.9 kN | D16 19.1 kN Shear: D6 4.0 kN | D8 4.3 kN | D10 9.3 kN | D12 13.2 kN | D16 25.9 kN
Recommended Resistance (single screw, solid masonry)
Tension: D6 2.0 kN | D8 3.1 kN | D10 3.6 kN | D12 4.0 kN Shear: D6 1.8 kN | D8 2.4 kN | D10 3.2 kN | D12 3.8 kN
Recommended Resistance (single screw, hollow masonry)
Tension: D6 1.5 kN | D8 2.0 kN | D10 2.4 kN | D12 2.8 kN Shear: D6 1.2 kN | D8 1.8 kN | D10 2.3 kN | D12 2.8 kN
Values for single-screw installations only. Do not account for group effects or edge distances. For project-specific load verification, contact Helical's technical team — free support for GCC projects.
Approved Substrates
Normal-weight concrete C20/25 minimum (most GCC commercial concrete is C25/30 or above)
Solid masonry — rotary drill only, do not hammer drill
Hollow masonry — use hollow masonry load values above; rotary drill only
Not suitable for: AAC/Aircrete, concrete below C20/25, gypsum board, plasterboard.
Typical Applications
MEP pipe and cable tray brackets to structural concrete
Facade sub-frame attachment where expansion forces are a design constraint
Handrail and balustrade base plates to concrete staircases and slabs
Unistrut / strut channel support systems to structural soffits
Formwork and temporary works — extractable and re-drivable
Curtain wall and cladding sub-frames on concrete columns and walls
Approvals
No ETA held. For projects requiring formal EN 1992-4 anchor design, contact Helical for the appropriate ETA-approved TORQ product. The TORQ TCS Technical Datasheet is the primary technical reference for all other applications.
